A Colorful Rooster
A visit to the island of Kauai just wouldn’t be complete without a rooster sighting. This painting is titled "Rooster & Bougainvillea" and is inspired by the artist’s time on the Garden Isle where she enjoyed watching the antics of the seemingly infinite chicken population.
From the tiniest chicks and their adorable peeping to the hens that so carefully dote on them, the antics are quite enjoyable. But it is the flashiest roosters who so proudly strut about, that often add the most amusement for the spectator.
Here in this rooster painting, one such bird paused from his busy duties of intimidating strutting and pestering the ladies, to pose for the artist. A beam of dramatic sunlight illuminates his beautiful plumage, adding exaggeration to his already precariously large ego. The contrast and play between this bird and his flowery environment strike a vibrant and fun scene.
