Bring a beautiful scenic equestrian landscape into your home with this stunning sunset artwork by female artist Karen Whitworth. Titled "More Than Light" this original wild horse painting represents the beauty of the American west while being an excellent accent piece and a topic for discussion. It's compelling back story that ends in a beautiful finish is the perfect uplifting addition to your home.
It all started back in April of 2011, thousands of miles from my home...
Recently moved to Arizona, USA, Tanya Griffin, was blessed with 6 visitors to her new desert property. All of these visitors were wild horses, all were very malnourished and some dangerously so. The gentle creatures were curious and desperate for food. As the sun set Tanya wasted no time to do what she could for them in the inhospitable environment that is the Arizonan desert.
That night Tanya immediately shared photos of her beautiful guests on facebook. From there, the Cowboy Magic Facebook Page shared one of these photos with their then 140,000 fans. Somehow it came across my news feed. The photos moved me. I was inspired! Immediately I contacted her to get more information on them, the horses, and the whole story. She was struggling but still doing what she could to feed them. Three of them appeared to be domestic horses who had been turned loose by their owners to fend for themselves in the desert. I decided to paint this picture depicting those six.
As a joint effort with Tanya Griffin I created this original painting to assist her in providing for the horses depicted in the painting. One half of the proceeds I collect from the painting’s sale are going directly to an account set up in the horses’ honor to help provide food and medical care.
“More Than Light” - was a pure joy to paint and I hope that my attraction to those original photos, being more than just pretty sunset lighting can make a difference.
